Spelled Psy-Ren as a reference to Psy meaning "mind" and Ren meaning "leader" this pieces has many things to say.  This is a collaboration piece, in a series of "creatures", the  first that Sean T French worked with the  glass and metal artist Michael Butzine and Light and multimedium artist Cody Hunt along with public installation artist Michelle Meyer.  After agreeing to collaborate, this piece emerged out of the direction to combine the Sean T French armor based style.  French's hard lines and cast metal face conveying strength and confidence, with the more organic flowing shapes of the glass and light Michael, Cody and Michelle work with bringing a flowing movement.  We all agreed a mermaid like creature caught in a moment of control shift, the second she takes control of the room after having been shackled...she only knows what is coming next.   She is a reflection of anyone who has experienced their personal version of this.  Her head and body, various metals., were designed, cast and formed in the armor influenced style by Sean T French.  Her lower body and tail are very large segments constructed of "cage blown" glass, a technique Michael Butzine has been exploring and feature a metal like inside coating making the glass look like metal when not internally lit.  In addition to the structural and other construction all the  collaborating artists worked on Cody Hunt engineered internal programmed lighting.  This piece stands approx. 11' on stand and is 10' round approx 3' deep requires one 110 outlet.  The piece can also be hung in a ring (see photos).
